Frequently Asked Questions
Product FAQs
Finding the right skincare product can be challenging. If you suffer from dry, itchy, and sensitive skin, you want to achieve relief the safest way possible! We welcome questions! On this page we answer the most common questions we receive.
Does the menthol in Suu Balm products make my skin dry?
No, the menthol that we use is non-drying and at a suitable dosage for eczema-prone and sensitive skin. Suu Balm moisturisers also contain a high concentration of skin-identical ceramides to help replenish the skin barrier effectively!
Are Suu Balm products suitable for pregnant women?
The cream hasn't been tested specifically on pregnant women, but its ingredients are all generally recognized as safe. Please consult your obstetrician / gynecologist or your family physician if you have any doubts.
Is it safe to use Suu Balm products while breastfeeding?
Suu Balm products are safe for breastfeeding mothers since they contain no harmful
preservatives or steroids. Suu Balm products are not for consumption, so to
prevent your baby ingesting the product, do not use Suu Balm cream on your breasts or nipples when breastfeeding. If you
have any concerns please consult your doctor.
Why Suu Balm?
Suu Balm products are made to soothe - relieving the itch, revitalising the skin, and restoring what has been lost, not irritating further. Our products are free from harmful ingredients like SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), SLES (sodium lauryl ether sulfate) and parabens.
Our creams and sprays have a touch of cool menthol that quickly takes away unwanted itching, as well as real, skin-identical ceramides that replenish the skin; while our washes are completely different from competing washes - offering a luxurious, moisturising texture with ultra gentle and ultra high quality ingredients.
Suu Balm Body Care Range
What are the dos and don'ts when applying Suu Balm ?
Apply Suu Balm Moisturiser on areas that are itchy, and reapply whenever the itch comes
back. If you have an open wound, be careful not to apply the cream directly on to the wound, instead apply the Suu Balm around the wound. Never apply Suu Balm close to the eyes or mouth, or on very sensitive skin. The cooling effect of menthol may not be tolerated well in those areas.
How does Suu Balm Rapid Itch Relief Moisturiser help to stop itch?
The menthol in Suu Balm helps to relieve the itch in minutes by activating nerves in the skin to prevent itch signals going to the brain. Ceramides help repair your skin's barrier to minimise moisture loss - over time, this further reduces your itch.
What is the difference between Suu Balm Rapid Itch Relief Moisturiser and Kids Moisturiser?
The main difference between Suu Balm Rapid Itch Relief Moisturiser and Suu Balm Kids Moisturiser is the concentration of menthol and moisturising ingredients.
Suu Balm Rapid Itch Relief Moisturiser has a higher concentration of menthol than the Suu Balm Kids Moisturiser. The Kids Moisturiser also contains a higher concentration of ceramides and filaggrin (vital for skin cells).
These differences optimise each product for the needs of adults and kids (including babies).
What makes Suu Balm Wash stand out against other brands?
Suu Balm Washes contain 5 different moisturising ingredients which are ultra-gentle for sensitive skin. They do not contain soap, SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) or SLES (sodium lauryl
ether sulfate). In fact, Suu Balm products are preservative-free, making them safe for ALL skin types, especially sensitive skin.
What is the difference between Suu Balm Adults Wash and Kids Wash?
The main difference is that the Kids Wash has no menthol, so it can be used from head-to-toe, for newborns and older! The Adults Wash contains a slight hint of menthol, to cool and soothe sensitive and irritated skin.
Suu Balm Kids Range
How safe are Suu Balm products for children?
Suu Balm for Kids products are specifically formulated for children.
When the Suu Balm Kids range was formulated, we ensured that it is gentle enough for all children, including newborn babies. We made sure that the wash was ‘tear-free’ so that it’s safe to use from head-to-toe. It’s gentle yet able to properly cleanse without stripping the skin dry. It’s also free of all the nasties like soap, sulfates and SLS/SLES. The moisturiser is also packed with skin-identical ceramides and filaggrin to intensely hydrate, plus a hint of menthol—tailored specially for kids (and babies)—to relieve itch!
Is Suu Balm Kids Moisturiser suitable for babies?
While Suu Balm Kids is suitable for newborns and older, we recommend you perform a little test on a small area before applying to the entire body - this will help your child or baby get used to the cooling feeling of the cream (which relieves the itch). It soothes dry, itchy, sensitive, and eczema-prone skin, as well as soothing redness on rashes. It should be applied from neck down, and open wounds or cuts should be avoided.
Can Suu Balm Kids Moisturiser be applied more than once a day?
It’s safe to apply Suu Balm Kids more than once every day. In fact, your little one can benefit the more times you apply the product. The moisturising effect of ceramides and filaggrin, plus the soothing action of menthol can stop the urge to scratch. The same ingredients can also restore the skin’s barrier, which in turn locks in moisture.
How do I use Suu Balm Scalp Spray?
Suu Balm Scalp Spray has a targeted nozzle - place the nozzle on the scalp where it is itchy, dry, or flaky, and spray one or more times. You may use Suu Balm Scalp Spray any time your scalp is itchy, dry or flaking! There is no limit to the number of times you can use it in a day.
Facial Care Range
Is Suu Balm Facial Care Range suitable for acne prone skin?
Our Facial Care Range series is rich and designed for dry, sensitive and itchy skin so it might not be the best for acne-prone skin.
Is Suu Balm Facial Care Range suitable for kids?
Yes, our facial range is suitable for kids! We recommend you perform a little test on a small area first before applying to the entire face, just to get your little one used to the cooling feeling (which relieves the itch).
Tips
How often should I moisturise?
There’s no definitive answer, but the more you moisturise, the better, especially if you have sensitive skin. Carry a tube of Suu Balm with you so you can easily moisturise on the go!
What are ceramides?
Ceramides are naturally found in our skin. They help create a barrier (protection), so that nothing good escapes your skin and nothing bad enters. However, in eczema prone or very dry skin the ceramide level is reduced, which results in dry, irritated skin.
Why is it important to have ceramides in our moisturisers?
Although our skin is naturally made up of ceramides, in eczema prone or very dry skin the ceramide level is reduced which results in dry, irritated skin. Suu Balm moisturisers contain skin-identical ceramides to moisturise, repair and restore your skin barrier function.
